q2. When and how did you first get involved with Blue Marine and the London to Monaco (L2M) ride?

We’ve been involved with Blue Marine and the L2M ride since 2019. We’ve been helping the team develop their website so that it showcases all the previous events, and allows riders to get to the sign up with ease.

q3. What is so special about Blue Marine and the L2M ride that attracts Nemetos Tanasuk to partner with us again this year?

Blue Marine’s mission aligns with the sustainability promise Nemetos has made to leave the world in a better place than we found it. Fascinated by the ocean, and its critical role in preserving our planet, our team was in search of an organisation whose work was not only to restore the ocean but to help protect it for the future; In addition, we have a lot of keen cyclists in the company and the London to Monaco challenge had great appeal. Blue Marine was the perfect fit!

q4. What has been your fondest memory from working with Blue Marine and the L2M ride in previous years?

We were privileged to be able to join a project day with Blue Marine, which involved restoring oysters to the Solent. It was amazing to be able to see one of the projects in real life and get a sense of the incredibly hard and important work which goes on at the Foundation.

q5. What are you most looking forward to about L2M 2022?

We’re excited that we get to see riders finally riding together in L2M2022 after 2 challenging years. We can’t wait to cheer them on!

q6. Is there any advice you would give our riders before they embark on this challenge?

  • Pump your tires as high as the rim and tires specify, lower pressure will make it much harder to pedal and can increase the risk of punctures.

  • The best way to deal with saddle sores is to simply not get them in the first place!

  • Never pass up a chance to fill up your water.

  • If your gloves aren’t waterproof, when it rains “borrow” the plastic ones at the petrol station.

  • Don’t wear underwear under lycra padded shorts.

  • Take back-up lights if you’re in the countryside.

  • Always ride with a phone and credit card.

  • Don’t ride with headphones on.

  • It’s amazing how all temperatures seem fine if your feet are dry and warm.

  • Wave to other cyclists in the countryside.

q7. If you could come back in an afterlife as a sea creature - what would it be & why?

Either a blue whale because of their sheer size and strength, or a dolphin as they know how to have fun!
